Delivering on a scooter or in a car? Let’s talk insurance

A female Just Eat courier delivering

In the UK, most people have standard ‘Social, Domestic and Pleasure’ insurance which allows you to drive in your personal time. It’s important to know that this type of cover will not cover you whilst delivering food for Just Eat. As a minimum, you are required to have ‘Business Use’ insurance to cover the use of food delivery and ‘Hire & Reward cover’. If you were to be involved in an incident whilst not adequately insured, your insurance company would not cover any costs incurred. When signing up to deliver with Just Eat, we’ll ask to see your certificate of motor insurance

While we like to remain impartial and not recommend one particular insurer, so here are some common insurance partners used by our Couriers:

Zego – Offers different types of policies for Couriers, so you can get the cover that’s right for you.

Acorn Insurance – competitive cover for those wanting to use their own car for delivery purposes (not suitable for scooter Couriers).

1st Choice Insurance – With a large panel of brokers, 1st Choice Insurance have the ability to compare over 80 types of policy.

Total Insurance –  Allows you to compare fast food delivery insurance from specialist UK insurance providers.

Remember, it is illegal to drive without valid insurance and you could receive a penalty ranging from a fine to disqualification from driving. Additionally, were you to be involved in an incident whilst not adequately insured, your insurance company would not cover the costs incurred.

The above named companies are in no way connected with, or linked to Just Eat.
