Connecting your phone to a car

A Just Eat courier making a delivery

You can use the likes of CarPlay or Android Auto to make your driving smarter and safer by helping you stay focused on the road. Connect your phone to enjoy turn-by-turn directions, calls, music, and more while delivering.

Below are instructions on how to set up Car Play;

  1. Start your car, ensure Siri is switched on
  2. Connect your iPhone to your car
  3. If your car supports Car Play connect your iPhone using an Apple Lightning to USB cable to the designated port, often marked with a CarPlay or smartphone icon.
  4. If your car supports CarPlay both wirelessly and with a USB cable, plug your iPhone into the USB port in your car. An alert on your iPhone will offer to connect you wirelessly on your next drives.
  5. If your car supports only wireless CarPlay, press and hold the voice command button on your steering wheel. Make sure that your stereo is in wireless or Bluetooth mode. Then on your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure that Wi-Fi is also turned on. Tap the CarPlay network, and check that Auto-Join is turned on. Then, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, and select your car. Check your car manual for more information.

If you are connecting your phone to Car Play, or a similar system such as Android Auto, make sure to keep the app open when connected to hear audio from notifications.

If the app is in the background when connected, the notifications won’t sound. To hear a noise, keep the app open when connected to your car, but only when it is safe to do so.
