Choosing the right e-bike

The first thing to consider is how to choose an e-bike that is road legal and meets local regulations. Here’s what you need to know.

Power limits

Your e-bike’s motor must not exceed 250 watts—anything above this is considered a motorcycle and requires proper registration.

Battery power and speed limits

Battery-assisted power must cut off at 25 km/h. If your e-bike still provides assistance beyond this, it’s not road legal.

🚨 Important: You should never alter your e-bike or buy one that has been previously modified from the manufacturer’s settings. Tampering with power or speed settings can make your bike illegal and unsafe.

 Riding at night? Stay visible!

If you’re out delivering after dark, make sure your e-bike has:

  • white light (flashing or steady) at the front
  • red light (flashing or steady) at the rear
  • red reflector at the back for extra visibility

Choosing the right e-bike ensures a smooth, safe, and hassle-free delivery experience.
